IPL 2021: South African superstar AB de Villiers visited the Royal Challengers Bangalore bio-bubble in Chennai ahead of the team’s season opener against the defending champions Mumbai Indians.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) announced that AB de Villiers had joined the franchise’s bio-bubble. In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season opener on April 9, the Virat Kohli-led RCB will face the defending champions Mumbai Indians.

“AB de Villiers has joined the RCB bubble in Chennai,” the Bangalore-based franchise said in response to the former South Africa captain’s arrival.

“The spaceship has landed,” RCB added, referring to De Villiers as an alien.

Last season, the Bangalore-based franchise made it to the play-offs, but were eliminated in the eliminator by SunRisers Hyderabad.

In the player auction, RCB spent a lot of money on Glenn Maxwell and Kyle Jamieson, a New Zealand all-rounder, as they look to win their first IPL title this season.

RCB is one of three teams that have yet to win the IPL trophy.

Captain Virat Kohli stated ahead of the IPL 2021 hence he will open the innings for RCB this season.

Kohli has already begun his preparations for the T20 tournament, posting a video of himself working out on a treadmill with the caption “no rest days” as he shifts his focus from international cricket to the IPL.
